4 of Melbourne’s Best Playgrounds for Toddlers

In Melbourne, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to creative and unusual play experiences. While we’ve all got our favourite toddler-friendly spots, here are 4 tried and tested playgrounds that are guaranteed to make your energetic little one, happily exhausted. Treat your toddler to quality playtime at top spots they’ll talk about for weeks.

Casey Fields

With a remarkable choice of equipment, this playground caters for every child, whether they're a budding pirate or a sand play fan. The truth is, big kids will love it too; see how many of their friends can fit on the bird’s nest swing. Try out the climbing mounds, adventure hill and interactive art. This is 3 hectares of pure fun! Get rid of all your toddler's plentiful energy in the play gym and watch them take on the giant blue slide. There's room to kick a ball, and the whole family can make a day of it by cooking some sausages on the BBQ.

Rosebud Foreshore Playground

If waterfront frolicking is right up your toddler's alley, this is the place to be. Everywhere you look, there's something for little ones to slide, swing, climb or jump on. Let them lose to tackle the big hill, complete with climbing stones and rope; from the top of the hill, they can look out over the water. There's a flying fox for the more adventurous tiny tots, and some stepping stones for toddlers to hop, skip and jump on. During the summer months, you can all cool off with a refreshing dip; the water is paddle-perfect and shallow for little ones.

Hay’s Paddock

This is a playground for every child; accessible for kids with limited mobility. Featuring the usual wooden playground favourites, your toddler can climb the frames, play in the fortresses, take on the slides, get dizzy in the roundabouts and dig in the sandpit. The array of swings cater for different ages and abilities, a wheelchair-friendly roundabout and a larger, low seesaw. The area is split into four sections, and with the bushlands and wetlands as a backdrop, it's a beautiful space to spend time in. Along the boardwalk, you'll find coloured windows, musical pipes and spinning blocks.

LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre

This is the ultimate 'out of the box' playground, and the best part is – it's also an all-weather attraction. Your toddler won't stop smiling at LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Melbourne. Your little LEGO® builders can meet a Master Model Builder and be inspired by their incredible skills. 2-5-year-olds love the DUPLO® Farm Adventure; big, soft bricks for playing, crawling and sliding. Hang out with a cow, calf, pig, chicken, sheep and hare which the littlies can interact with. Your toddler can then add to the impressive cityscape at Heartlake City; it's all about creating stories while they hang out with their friends. And if they're looking for more fun, check out DUPLO® Kids Club for story time, and DUPLO® building and organised play with our friendly team members! Running from 10am to 1pm on weekdays.
